Trail Information

Pintail Lake is an excellent observation and study area for anyone interested in waterfowl and waterfowl habitat. Two wildlife viewing blinds offer unique views over the ponds. A wide variety of waterfowl and marsh birds can be viewed on any given day. Wild Canadian geese and other migratory birds often use the lake as a stop over and rest area during migratory seasons.

The source of water is treated effluent from Show Low’s sewer system. The wetlands were designed, planned and are being managed as a waterfowl enhancement area.

Directions

From Show Low:
Take State Highway 77 north approximately 3.3 miles to Pintail Lake turnoff. Turn right and follow the gravel road to the dead end. Park your vehicle and follow the established trails to either the covered blind or open observation deck.
