Trail Information

The Skull Rock Nature Trail begins on the northern side of Utah Trail across the road from Jumbo Rocks Campground. There is a marked trailhead and hikers should park along the paved road. There are several interpretive signs to guide visitors through boulder piles, desert washes and a rock alleyway to the rock formation known as Skull Rock, unfortunately most are so weathered they are illegible.. The Skull Rock Nature Trail is haphazardly marked with rocks but can always be discerned in the sandy soil. The trail winds around interesting rock formations before crossing the road and entering into Jumbo Rocks Campground. Within the campground is skull rock, which hikers can explore. This is an easy two-mile loop.

Directions

From Oasis Visitor Center:
Drive south on Utah Trail to a fork in the road. Bear right and continue toward Sheep Pass to the Skull Rock Trailhead, on the northern side of the road.
