Trail Information

Dry St. Vrain Trail leads gradually downhill for about a mile, as it roughly follows an intermittent tributary of the North St. Vrain Creek. The last stretch of trail to North St. Vrain Creek drops quite steeply to the creek bed. The North St. Vrain Creek runs very heavily in the spring and early summer or during periods of heavy rain and may be difficult or impossible to cross. One mile to the west along North St. Vrain Creek, Coulson Gulch Trail meets the north side of the creek; and 1.5 miles east is Button Rock Reservoir; trails that run parallel to North St. Vrain Creek are unmaintained social trails.

Directions

From Lyons:
Head north on CO Highway 7 (a.k.a. South St. Vrain Canyon) about 15 miles. Just east (within view) of the turnoff for Riverside, which lies on the south side of the highway, watch for a turnoff on the north side marked with a line of mailboxes. Follow that turnoff (this is FDR 185, but may or may not be signed as such) north up the hill. Turn right at each road intersection, avoiding private property and driveways. It’s approximately a mile and a half from Highway 7 to the Dry St. Vrain Trailhead. It is recommended to have a four wheel drive vehicle for access
