Trail Information

The Rainbow Lakes Trail heads west from the trailhead. The trail soon enters the Indian Peaks Wilderness so no mechanized travel is allowed. The trail is an easy hike up to the Rainbow Lakes (el. 10,200 feet), a series of small lakes and beaver ponds.

When winter comes, the Rainbow Lakes Trail becomes a popular snowshoeing location.

Directions

The trailhead is located approximately 7 miles north of Nederland, on Highway 72, turn west onto Rainbow Lakes Road (a.k.a. County Road 116 and FDR 298).
