Directions

From Sandstone Quarry the trail heads north over a narrow rise, in and out of a wash, then continues for a short distance along the northwest side of Turtlehead peak. Scramble up a ravine to the saddle and follow the steep ridge to the top. The trail is intermittent and composed of loose rock.

This route follows a wash north through the Calico Hills, climbs a ravine to the left of Turtlehead and follows the ridge to the top. The spectacular views are well worth the long climb. From the summit, you can see a representative sample of the Mohave Desert, which encompasses the southern tip of Nevada, most of southeastern California and a bit of western Arizona.

Directions

From Las Vegas Boulevard:
Go west on Charleston Boulevard for 17 miles. You will see a sign on your right hand side that says Red Rock Scenic Drive. Then continue on the loop road (one way) to Sandstone Quarry and park.
