Trail Information

The Abernathy Lake Trail is a very short trail leading to Abernathy Lake from the trailhead near the railroad tracks at the end of Forest Road 5899. Forest Road 5899 is very rough road and high clearance vehicles are recommended. There are several small, primitive campsites at the lake. Abernathy Lake is good for swimming and fishing.

Note: Bees can be a problem in the summer, so watch out for ground nests if you are going to set up camp. There is water available from Abernathy Lake and Deer Creek. The Deer Creek Trail, begins near the trailhead, back up the road a bit.

Directions

From the Oakridge Ranger Station:
Go east on Highway 58 for 30 miles to Forest Road 5899. Follow this to the right for 1 mile to Pengra Pass. Here the road veers right again towards Abernathy and the Abernathy Trailhead at the end. This is a very poor road
