Trail Information

The Bailey Mountain Trail is in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. It is a steep rugged trail that crosses the Chetco River and Carter Creek. Beginning from Slide Creek, the trail follows the Chetco River upstream to Carter Creek. River crossings involve wading in knee deep cold water. This section of the Chetco River has some spectacular swimming holes for the hardy. Although open to horses, the river and stream crossings are very difficult. From Carter Creek, the trail climbs steeply up Bailey Mountain and then down the south side to the Little Chetco River.

Directions

The Bailey Mountain Trail is accessed from either the Upper Chetco Trail or the Little Chetco Trail.
