Trail Information
Highlights of the Surveyors Ridge Trail include magnificent glimpses of Mount Hood and the Hood River Valley. The landscape varies from open grassy slopes and meadows, to rocky outcroppings and abandoned logging roads. If you wish to do this as a shuttle, one way trip is 11.7 miles.
Directions
North End of Ridge:
From Hood River take Highway 35 south for 14 miles to Pinemont Drive (Forest Road 17), about 1/2 mile south of Hanel’s Lumber Mill. Turn left on Pinemont and continue 5 miles to Forest Road 630 (spur road immediately south of the power lines). Turn right onto Forest Road 630 and follow to parking area.
South End of Ridge:
From Hood River take Highway 35 south for 26 miles to Forest Road 44. Turn left and follow Forest Road 44 for 3 1/2 miles to Forest Road 620. The trail crosses Forest Road 620 a few yards from the junction with Forest Road 44. Parking is limited.
