Clingmans loop begins at the highest trail head in the park and takes the Applachian Trail past multiple views of the park and so much more.

It will then drop down into Tennessee proper, where you will leave the high country, containing spruce, pine and fir trees, to find a small forested area with a streamside camping area that is in a rich woodlands, plentiful with wildlife, including black bear, whitetail deer and red fox.

Little River will afford you an aweinspiring walk along the watershed, which will carry you to your second nights stay if you so choose, beneath Clingmans Dome in Three Forks.

The final day will be a long and arduous climb back into the high country again via the Sugarland Mountain Trail, with more good views along the way.
