Trail Information

The Big Water Trail ends at the meeting of the Desolation Trail just above Dog Lake. This trail is heavily used by both hikers and bikers, therefore some restrictions have been implemented to avoid conflict. Mountain bikes are permitted on the trail on even numbered calendar days.

Dogs are allowed in Mill Creek Canyon. But watershed restrictions apply and are enforced when you cross the ridge into Big Cottonwood Canyon, which means no dogs.

When the snow falls, the Big Water Trail becomes the domain of snowshoers.

Directions

Via Mill Creek Canyon Road (3800 South Wasatch Blvd.) about 9.1 miles up the canyon to the parking lot. Please note that the upper parking lot fills up very quickly on weekends.
