Trail Information

The Gooseberry Trail heads northeast from the mesa top at Grand View Point three miles to Gooseberry Camp. The trail descends steeply through the various layers of the canyon to meet the Gooseberry drainage.

Begin the hike on Gooseberry Trail at the Grand View Point Picnic Area. The trail descends immediately using switchbacks to traverse through the initial steep layers of rock. The first two miles of this hike followings the switchbacks. At the bottom of the switchbacks, the trail reaches the drainage of Gooseberry Canyon. From here, it follows for one mile until it meets the White Rim Road.

Gooseberry Camp lies at the meeting of White Rim Road and Gooseberry Trail. From this point, hikers can cross the road to look down on the Colorado River. There is no access from this trail to the river. Hikers should expect heavy biking and four-wheel driving traffic on White Rim Road.
