Trail Information

Access to the Red Pine Trail begins from the White Pine Trailhead parking lot. Toilets and a paved parking lot are located at the trailhead. A bridge crosses Little Cottonwood Creek and the trail joins an unimproved mountain road. Follow this road one mile and you’ll come to the start of the Red Pine Trail at the sharp switchback where the road turns east. The Red Pine Trail leaves the road and crosses the creek and ends at the north edge of Red Pine Lake. There are actually four lakes in this basin connected by brooks. The upper lake sits in a glaciated cirque. Fishing is possible but success is only marginal.

When the snow falls, the Red Pine Trail becomes the domain of snowshoers and backcountry skiers.

Directions

Via Little Cottonwood Canyon Road (9400 South Wasatch Blvd) about 5.3 miles up the canyon to the White Pine Trailhead parking lot. Go one mile up White Pine Trail to the junction with Red Pine Trail.
