Trail Information

The Big Slide Primitive Trail connects with Trapper Creek Trail and Observation Trail, providing the opportunity for a great loop in the Trapper Creek Wilderness. The trail has a very steep grade, poor tread and is difficult to follow. This trail is recommended for experienced hikers only. If you attempt to snowshoe this grade, you will find it more than tiring, so be in y our best condition.

Directions

From Carson:
Take the Wind River Highway (County Route 30) north to the forest boundary. Continue on County Route 30 to Forest Road 5401. Take FR 5401 approximately four miles to the Trapper Creek Trail Trailhead. The Big Slide Primitive Trail is accessed from Trapper Creek Trail (#192) and Observation Trail (#132).
