Trail Information

Against a backdrop of mountains, wildflowers and colorful heather, Picture Lake is the centerpiece of a strikingly beautiful landscape. The classic alpine vista of Mount Shuksan mirrored in Picture Lake is one of the most photographed mountain scenes in North America.

The 0.5-mile path is a combination of pavement and boardwalk, making this trail universally accessible. A platform on the edge of the lake provides a resting spot and a way to interact with Picture Lake without disturbing its delicate ecology.

No dogs are allowed on the Picture Lake Path.

Directions

From Glacier:
Travel east on Mt. Baker Highway 542 for 21.0 miles. The parking area is located on the left hand side of the road in the Heather Meadows Area, on the north side of Picture Lake.
