Trail Information
The Three Forks Trail from Deer Park Campground to Three Forks is only 4.3 miles but descends nearly 2,500 feet from Grand Ridge to the junction of Cameron Creek, Grand Creek and Gray Wolf River. The trail begins in an open meadow with subalpine terrain and descends into a montane forest of trees and shrubs. There are views aplenty from the beginning of this hike. To the west, hikers will see the Grand Creek drainage, the Needles and Gray Wolf Ridge lie to the south.
Directions
From Port Angeles:
Drive 5 miles east on Highway 101 to Deer Park Road. Turn right (south) and begin climbing into the northeastern Olympic foothills. The pavement ends after 5.5 miles, right before the road enters the National Park. South of the National Park boundary the road becomes steep and narrow. Sixteen miles from Highway 101 is the access road for Deer Park Campground. Park in the day-use parking area. The trail begins south of the campground.
