FAQs - How do I back up when I’m wearing snowshoes?
Home » Snowshoeing Gear » FAQs - How do I back up when I’m wearing snowshoes?

This is a common problem if you are just learning to snowshoe and most people find backing up difficult. The tails of the snowshoes tend to be heavier than the front of the shoe, so they catch in the snow when you try to back up. To balance the tendency to “tail drag,” push down on the tip of your snowshoe with your ski pole and step back.
