There are a lot of snow shoe buffs who like to operated in the back country, who will wrap their ski poles with duct tape in order to have it on hand for any emergency repairs that may be necessary.
Some of those who could be termed enthusiasts to the extreme will also carry some spare tubing, which they will use as necessary in order to splint their gear by tucking it inside aluminum frames and making it stay by using the tape to bind it. Cold weather will certainly take away the adhesive properties of any tape so be sure that your tape is rated for the colder weather.

Your snow shoes can be splinted by using two small lengths of saplings and binding them to the other broken part with the tape.
