Charter Guide to Fishing Maine

Fishing Maine is something everyone should experience once, and when you do, you’re going to find yourself returning again and again to the area, and making friends that will last forever.

Maine is not only one of the friendliest states in the US, but the fishing there is incomparable.

Maine has been known forever for its superb saltwater fishing, which is about the best on the east coast, but its freshwater fishing is equally as good.

If you don’t take advantage of the chance to fish Maine on your vacation to the area, you’re missing out on a great deal.

What makes it even more fun is that the freshwater fishing can be found just a short jaunt from the salt water variety.

Its possible for you to do both in the same day and not break a sweat.

Your fishing vacation to Maine will afford you the opportunity to pull in Brown Trout, Brookies, Bass of both types, Perch, Salmon and enough of them all to make it uncomfortable to lift your fishing arm the next day.

Whats your pleasure? If you fish Maine, you’re going to have equal success with either a fly rod or spinning gear.

Most any kind of spinner rod and reel can be used to catch Stripers, mackerel and can also be used for your freshwater forays.

Fly Fishing in MaineIf you’re into the fly gear, then you’re probably going to want to select a saltwater day using a fast action eight weight, or larger fly rod, a reel of reputable drag, loaded up for bear with a fast sinking line backed with about 200 yards of Dacron, and carry along a spare spool loaded with a forward floating line.

For a day of freshwater fly fishing, you’d probably like to bring along a rod and reel of six weight, or smaller persuasion, loaded with a weight forward floating line, backed with about 75 to 100 yards of Dacron backing.

As for what “flavor” flies you’re going to want to use, this will differ as you move from saltwater to freshwater.

Maine is an anglers dream come true, with plentiful fish, charter boats galore and easy access to both.
